The Long, Long Road of The Perrys: 54 Years of Faith, Music, and Unbreakable Spirit
For over half a century, The Perrys have been a beacon of faith and musical inspiration, lifting spirits and touching souls with a journey as remarkable as the songs they sing. Since their humble beginnings on Christmas Day, 1970, this gospel group has weathered both life’s peaks and valleys, always rising with a deep-rooted resilience that has kept them going on the “long, long road.” Now, with their new release, Long, Long Road, The Perrys invite fans to reflect on a journey filled with triumph, tribulation, and unwavering devotion.
At the heart of The Perrys stands Libbi Perry Stuffle, a charter member whose faith and perseverance shine in every note. Together with her son, Jared, and gifted vocalists Jason Gordon and Dayton Gay, Libbi returns to the studio, collaborating with their longtime friend and producer, Wayne Haun, to create an album as powerful as it is inspiring. Through the album’s tracks, fans both new and old will feel the unmistakable sound and passion that has made The Perrys a cornerstone in gospel music for decades.
Wayne Haun, a StowTown Records executive and producer of the album, couldn’t contain his excitement for this release. “This album is classic Perrys! It has everything fans expect—reimagined classics, traditional convention sounds, and fresh, new material. And as always, it’s performed brilliantly,” he shared. And StowTown is doubling down on its promise, with at least three singles slated for radio play. The album’s current Top 10 hit, “Warmin’ Up,” is just the beginning of what promises to be a wave of radio success in the coming months.
One particularly uplifting track that’s sure to resonate with listeners is “You Can’t Hurry God,” a spirited remake from legendary gospel writer Dorothy Love Coates. Known for timeless classics like “I’m Sealed” and “Get Away Jordan,” Coates’ work on this song is a stirring reminder of divine timing and trust. Meanwhile, tracks like “Jesus Is” and “A Million Reasons” offer poignant messages about God’s love and grace, resonating deeply with those in need of comfort, encouragement, or simply a reminder of faith’s constancy through life’s seasons.
Libbi describes Long, Long Road as a celebration of endurance, faith, and hope—a living testimony to The Perrys’ journey. “For every valley, there’s been a mountaintop; for every tear, there’s been laughter. This album captures all of those phases in our lives, and it gives us so many reasons to rejoice as we’re too close to our Heavenly Home to stop now.” Reflecting on their journey, she shared a passage from Philippians 3:13-14: “Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
Through every struggle and every victory, The Perrys’ message remains clear: faith will always be the foundation, and music, the unbreakable vessel carrying it forward. As Long, Long Road hits airwaves and playlists, it promises to do more than uplift; it serves as a call to hold fast to faith, embrace resilience, and press on—no matter how winding the journey may be.
