Movie Review: Inside Out 2: Does the Sequel Stir the Same Emotional Symphony?
Pixar’s Inside Out has a way of pressing our sentimental buttons, and revisiting it on Disney Plus made me realize why this tear-jerker is so beloved. The original taught us that even the unpleasant emotions—like sadness—are essential. As we dive back into Riley’s mind in Inside Out 2, the sequel attempts to recreate that magic, but does it hit the same emotional high notes?
Though not as emotionally stirring as its predecessor, Inside Out 2 still offers a heartwarming journey filled with humor, charm, and Pixar’s signature visual wonder. As Riley hits 13 and grapples with puberty, new emotions enter her world, including the anxious but oddly relatable Anxiety (voiced by Maya Hawke). While the film doesn’t quite bring out the tissues this time, it creatively expands the emotional landscape with enough sincerity to captivate both new viewers and nostalgic fans.
