Born in Oxford, Mississippi, and raised in Waldorf, Maryland, Crushun’s passion for music was ignited at an early age by the influence of his grandmother, who often spoke about Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers. After hearing Cooke’s stirring rendition of “Nearer My God to Thee,” Crushun realized the profound power of music as a gateway to the soul—a revelation that shaped his love for gospel music, particularly its ability to reach people at a deeper, spiritual level.
