Disney+ Under Fire for ‘Occultic and LGBT Agenda’: New Series ‘Agatha All Along’ Sparks Outrage Among Family-Friendly Media

“You cannot blur the lines,” she said earlier this year. “Your soul depends on you knowing the truth.”

A leading family-friendly media watchdog is raising alarm over Disney+’s continued promotion of content steeped in occultic themes and LGBT messaging, which many say is being marketed directly to children and teens. The latest point of contention is Disney+’s recent release of “Agatha All Along,” a spin-off of Marvel’s 2021 hit series WandaVision, centered around a witch named Agatha Harkness. The show, which premiered on September 18, has ignited a firestorm of criticism for its overt embrace of witchcraft, paganism, and what some are calling “the heaviest LGBT content to date” on the platform.

According to Movieguide, a conservative family media organization, Disney’s latest offering isn’t just another fantasy series — it’s an intentional push to normalize occult practices and promote a progressive social agenda to younger audiences. The show’s actors themselves have teased this intention, with Aubrey Plaza, who plays the character Rio Vidal, boldly proclaiming, “It will be a gay explosion by the end of it.” Sasheer Zamata, portraying Jennifer Kale, echoed this sentiment, calling Agatha All Along “the gayest project Marvel has ever done,” highlighting the show’s explicit inclusion of LGBT themes.

The show’s official synopsis outlines a plot driven by Agatha Harkness and a goth teen attempting to survive the treacherous “Witches’ Road,” a mythical path of trials that promises power and transformation. Together, they form a coven of witches, underscoring the series’ heavy focus on witchcraft, something that has become a point of contention for concerned parents and faith-based groups alike.

“We can’t let this twisted and disturbing content corrupt our children’s values and beliefs,” said Ted Baehr, Chairman and Founder of Movieguide. He called on parents to take action by petitioning Disney+ to halt the release of content that glorifies occult practices and undermines traditional values. “Shows like Agatha All Along send the dangerous message that witchcraft, sorcery, and demonic associations are not only acceptable but desirable for young viewers.”

This isn’t the first time Disney+ has been criticized for its occultic and LGBT-heavy programming. Last year, the platform greenlit the production of Pauline, a German series focusing on a teenage girl’s love affair with Satan. In another instance, Hocus Pocus 2, a sequel to Disney’s 1993 Halloween classic, was lambasted for introducing references to witchcraft practices such as moon spells, crystals, and child sacrifice.

Jamie Gooch, a mother of three, warned parents of the dangers lurking in these seemingly innocent films, noting that dark spiritual forces could be at work. “This film unleashes hell on your kids and in your home,” Gooch stated about Hocus Pocus 2. “Everybody thinks it’s fake and innocent, but they could be casting any type of spell they want to. Anything could be coming through that TV screen into your home.”

Concerns over the growing normalization of witchcraft and the occult are not unfounded. According to a 2006 Barna Study, 73% of American youth had engaged in some form of witchcraft or psychic-related activity, with many having used Ouija boards or read books on witchcraft or Wicca. With the rise of platforms like TikTok, occult practices are more accessible than ever. In 2020 alone, videos tagged with #witch received over 585 million views, while #witchesoftiktok garnered 84 million views.

Former Wiccan turned Christian minister Jenny Weaver also weighed in on the issue, warning believers about the subtle influence of occult content on young minds. “Media has done a good job of pushing something to the point where it’s now normalized,” she said. “Shows as early as daycare age are promoting witchcraft and sorcery… it’s preschool witchcraft that gets into the hearts and minds of people, including those in the church.”

With Agatha All Along, Disney+ has once again found itself at the center of controversy, as parents and advocacy groups express growing concern about the platform’s willingness to expose children to content that blurs the line between entertainment and spiritual danger. The question remains: how much further will Disney+ push the boundaries, and how will families respond?

In a time when media content is consumed at an unprecedented rate, the power of storytelling cannot be underestimated. As Disney+ continues to produce content that some argue undermines moral values, the debate over its influence on younger generations is only set to intensify. Parents and faith-based organizations are being called to remain vigilant, as the lines between fantasy and occult influence become increasingly blurred.
