Dr. Daniel Olukoya Rewards Excellence: MFM Celebrates First Class Graduates with Cash Prizes
“In 2011, the Lord established a programme in MFM to encourage the youth. At the programme, I said to anybody who is a member of MFM and makes a first class, I will give them a car.
In a grand gesture that has become the hallmark of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Dr. Daniel Olukoya, the General Overseer, awarded cash prizes to first-class graduates during the church’s 35th-anniversary celebrations and international convention held at Prayer City, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The event, known as Dr. D.K. Olukoya’s Academic Award of Excellence, saw its highest number of beneficiaries since its inception in 2010, with 492 graduates receiving accolades for their outstanding academic achievements.
“Nineteen students made a first class that year, and I have given them cars, I did so at the second edition. But by the third edition, the programme galvanized MFM students to start working hard. We had 77 of them, and I couldn’t afford to give them 77 cars. I started giving money.
Highlighting the importance of hard work and academic excellence, Dr. Olukoya shared the remarkable growth of the program, from giving cars to 19 first-class graduates in its early years to now awarding substantial cash prizes. Assisted by his wife, Pastor Shade Olukoya, and state governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Dapo Abiodun, and Sheriff Oborevwori, the award ceremony was the crowning moment of the event, reflecting the church’s commitment to fostering a culture of excellence among its members.
