Christian Nurse Fired After Blowing the Whistle on Alleged Medicaid Fraud at Texas Children’s Hospital

In a shocking development that intertwines faith, ethics, and the power of the state, Vanessa Sivadge, a Christian nurse at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) in Houston, claims she was abruptly fired after exposing what she alleges to be Medicaid fraud related to transgender procedures for minors. The situation, she says, is more than a professional dispute—it’s a spiritual battle.

“I am a Christian, and my faith is the foundation of everything,” Sivadge told The Christian Post. “That’s the reason why I’ve spoken out as I have.”

According to Sivadge, TCH terminated her employment on August 16, 2024, following her revelation of alleged fraudulent practices at the country’s largest children’s hospital. She accused the institution of using federal funds to finance cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers for minors, a practice she says violates Texas law. These explosive claims were first shared with journalist Christopher Rufo last year, sparking widespread attention.

Sivadge’s decision to come forward was catalyzed by Rufo’s May 2023 exposé on Dr. Eithan Haim, who had leaked medical records indicating that TCH continued to prescribe puberty blockers to children with gender dysphoria, despite public denials. While Haim faces four felony charges for his actions, Sivadge has avoided federal charges but has still encountered a chilling response from authorities.

Two weeks after her anonymous whistleblowing was published, two FBI agents appeared at Sivadge’s home. Footage posted by Rufo in June shows the agents, casually dressed, expressing their desire to discuss “some of the things that have been going on at [her] work lately.” The agents’ visit felt more like intimidation than investigation, Sivadge recalls, a tactic she believes exemplifies the federal government’s weaponization against people of faith.

Sivadge’s battle is not just with TCH. It’s with what she sees as a broader assault on religious freedom and truth-telling in an increasingly hostile cultural environment. She cited Ephesians 5 as the spiritual motivation for her actions, emphasizing the biblical mandate to “expose the worthless deeds of evil and darkness.”

Her firing, she claims, was not just unlawful but also a direct retaliation for her whistleblowing and her request for a religious accommodation that would have transferred her out of the endocrinology clinic, where she felt morally compromised by her indirect participation in transgender care for minors. “This past Friday on August 16, TCH fired me effective immediately,” Sivadge stated. “This is unlawful for two reasons: it is retaliation for my coming forward with information on TCH’s egregious pattern of deception and Medicaid fraud, and this action also illegally disregarded my request to transfer due to my belief that these procedures bring irreversible harm and lifelong regret to children confused about their sex.”

While Sivadge remains resolute in her convictions, she is also deeply concerned about the future, particularly if Vice President Kamala Harris were to ascend to the presidency. “I believe that the Department of Justice has been weaponized against people of faith and people who expose wrongdoing and illegal activity—not just in my case, but in many others,” she said. “And so I am deeply concerned that if she gets elected, nothing will change in that regard.”

Despite the overwhelming pressure, Sivadge says she has found solace in her faith and the support of her community. “I’ve felt tremendous support from the people of God,” she shared. “People in the community have reached out, sent so many messages, donated to my GiveSendGo, and ultimately made me feel like I’m doing the right thing, no matter what comes down the pike.”

Vanessa Sivadge’s story is one of courage, faith, and the high price of standing for what she believes is right. As she faces an uncertain future, her resolve remains unshaken: “We have a responsibility as Christians to bring to light what’s been done in the darkness,” she declared. Whether her actions will lead to justice or further persecution remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—her faith will continue to be her guide in this spiritual conflict.
