In a groundbreaking move to enhance synodal engagement throughout Asia, Cardinal Sebastian Francis of Penang has launched “SynodalityAsia,” a comprehensive new website dedicated to the Synod on Synodality. The website, unveiled during a virtual event with prominent social communication leaders from across the continent, is designed to centralize key synodal resources and foster deeper engagement among the diverse Asian communities. Developed by the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences – Office of Social Communications (FABC-OSC), SynodalityAsia reflects Pope Francis’ vision of a globally inclusive Synod that embraces the rich tapestry of the Church’s universal community.

SynodalityAsia features a range of tools to support this mission, including vernacular translations of crucial synodal documents, insightful commentaries, and interactive social media platforms aimed at amplifying the unique perspectives of Asian Catholics. Cardinal Francis highlighted the website’s role in creating an inclusive and far-reaching consultation process, acknowledging the significant cultural and linguistic diversity across the continent. This initiative seeks to ensure that the voices of Asian faithful are not only heard but actively shape the ongoing global dialogue on synodality.

The launch event also saw commendations from key figures such as Archbishop Thomas D’Souza and Fr. George Plathottam, who praised the website as a vital link between the Vatican and the Asian Churches. Dr. Thierry Bonaventura, Communication Manager at the Synod Secretariat, emphasized the platform’s role in fostering dialogue and participation among the faithful. The FABC-OSC has encouraged all interested parties to explore the SynodalityAsia website and engage with its extensive social media presence to stay updated on the latest developments and resources related to the Synod.
