11views

As winter ushers in the release of their latest album, Unstoppable God, the legendary Kingsmen Quartet once again prove why they are a beloved staple in Southern Gospel music. Their newest single, “Saints Will Rise,” is more than just a chart-climber; it’s a nostalgic revival of a cherished 1980s favorite. The track is a joyous celebration of the Resurrection, featuring all the hallmarks that make Southern Gospel so enduring: a strong, memorable melody, dynamic call-and-response vocal arrangements, and a simple yet uplifting message that resonates deeply with audiences. With these elements, “Saints Will Rise” captures the essence of the genre while delivering a performance that invites listeners to sing along with its infectious chorus.

In preparing for the follow-up to last year’s Decades retrospective, the Kingsmen discovered gaps in their catalog that needed filling. “Saints Will Rise” was an obvious choice for a modern reimagining. With a revitalized arrangement that brings the song into the present and the renewed energy of the current lineup, the track is poised to extend its popularity well into the future. This new version not only honors the legacy of Southern Gospel but also showcases the Kingsmen’s ability to adapt and breathe new life into their timeless sound.

“When we were in the studio recording,” recalls baritone singer Alan Kendall, “I was blown away by the staunch commitment that Brady, Cole, Thomas, Brandon and I all shared to both preserve these classics and keep them refreshing. In fact, if you listen closely to Thomas sing his step-outs, you might wonder if it’s the late Ernie Phillips himself singing those lines! To cap it off, we just had to let Ray Dean Reese join in with his signature delivery on the final chorus. I love this song, and I love this updated arrangement!”

“Saints Will Rise” is streaming in Dolby Atmos spatial audio on Apple Music, Amazon Music and TIDAL. Listen to it HERE.
