14views

For the first time ever, Crawlspace’s seminal EP “Shelter” is available on CD, remastered by Alex Mihm at Noble Savage to showcase the band’s groundbreaking sound in all its glory. This four-song masterpiece is a precursor to Crawlspace’s debut album “Sicken”, which was one of the earliest releases on Tooth & Nail Records. As guitarist Nate Shumaker puts it, “Everdown was Crawlspace”, and “Shelter” is a testament to the band’s unique blend of influences, from Helmet to Clutch, that set them apart from their contemporaries.

Crawlspace (Everdown) Release Newly Remastered Single

Crawlspace’s music was a game-changer in the early days of Christian hardcore, paving the way for future generations of bands. With “Shelter”, they brought a new level of intensity and aggression to the scene, earning them a spot alongside legendary bands like Sam Black Church, Stompbox, and Converge. As Shumaker recalls, “We were it” – the only Christian hardcore band in New England at the time, forging their own path and creating a sound that would put them on the map.

The remastered “Shelter” is more than just a nostalgic release – it’s a document of a pivotal moment in music history. As Shumaker proudly states, “Without these four songs, none of it would have been possible.” This reissue is a testament to the enduring legacy of Crawlspace and their influence on the hardcore genre. With its raw energy and unbridled passion, “Shelter” is a must-listen for fans of heavy music and a reminder of the power of innovation and creativity.
