From Body Slams to Soul Salvation: Former Wrestler Turned Priest Finds New Calling

36views

In a remarkable journey of faith and redemption, Rev Steven Horne has traded in his wrestling boots for a dog collar, after being ordained by the Archbishop of Canterbury. The 43-year-old former wrestler, who once thrilled crowds with his headlocks and suplexes, has found a new passion in serving the Lord. Horne’s path to priesthood was far from conventional – he was a police officer, then a PhD in Theology, before discovering his true calling in the wrestling ring. But it was in 2022, when he felt a “green light” from God, that he knew he was meant to serve a higher purpose.

As Rev Horne embarks on his new journey, he draws parallels between the struggles of wrestling and the challenges of faith. “Life can be difficult and sometimes unpredictable,” he says, “but I rest comfortably knowing that although life is full of slams and suplexes, God has oversight of it all and knows what the end will be.” With his unique blend of brawn and spirituality, Rev Horne is set to inspire a new generation of believers, proving that even the most unlikely of souls can find salvation and purpose in the most unexpected ways.
