A woman who is yet to be identified has been killed by two off-duty officers, after she entered Houston megachurch, Lakewood of pastor, Joel Osteen and started shooting on Sunday afternoon.
According to report, the woman who was in a trenchcoat opened fire towards the church members with a long gun, which left everyone running for safety.
The woman who left two people injured, was killed by two officers as they also opened fire towards her at the scene.
The tragic event started few minutes before the Spanish service of the church at around 2:00pm in the afternoon.
“I will say this,” Houston Police Chief Troy Finner told reporters during a news conference outside the church. “That female, that suspect, put that baby in danger. I’m going to put that blame on her.”
Reports says that two people were injured after the shooting at Lakewood Church, a 57 year old man and a young boy who is in a critical condition.
“Once she went down, officers reported back to us that she threatened that she had a bomb,” the police chief explained. “So we searched her vehicle, our bomb squad, and also the backpack [she brought].”
“No explosives were found, but she was also spraying some type of substance on the ground.”
Pastor Joel Osteen, speaking during a press conference, thanked the law enforcement after he was left devastated by the shooting.
“We don’t understand why all these things happened, but we know God’s in control,” Osteen said.
“We’re going to continue to to move forward. There are forces of evil, but the forces that are for us, the forces of God, are stronger than that,” he continued.
“So we’re going to keep going strong and just, you know, doing what God’s called us to do, lift people up and give hope to the world again.”
Pastor Benny Hinn, who sent his prayers to the clergyman and his entire household said;
“Wonderful partners, I’m sure you heard about the shooting this afternoon at Joel Osteen’s church. I am asking you all as God’s people to pray for Pastor Joel, his family, as well as the members of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas. Pray that the Lord will protect His people, that God will fill them with His wonderful peace, and that He will bring healing to the injured.
