Shola Allyson (Sola Allyson) was born on the 24th of September in the early 1970s. She grew up at Ikorodu, her birthplace. For her primary education, Shola attended Anglican Primary School, Ikorodu before enrolling into Shams-el-deen Grammar School, Ikorodu for her secondary education. She further proceeded to Government Technical College, Agidingbi, Ikeja, where she studied Business Studies, obtaining an NBTE Certificate.
In 1997, Allyson gained admission to study Music Technology at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, majoring in Voice and minoring in Music. She graduated with a Higher National Diploma (HND) degree with an Upper Credit.
Career
Shola Allyson started her music career at a very early age of 13 as a back-up singer. With time, she upgraded into a professional back-up singer, working with musicians such as Gbenga Adeboye, Yinka Ayefele, Daddy Showkey, Pasuma and Obesere. She also did jingles, signature tunes, and adverts for radio and TV stations.
Allyson, however, rose to limelight after releasing her first album, ‘Eji Owuro’. The opportunity to make the album came when she met a man with a movie script in a public bus. The man initiated a conversation with her, telling her about a film shoot he just concluded, titled ‘Orekelewa’. He also asked if she could do a soundtrack for the movie.
She agreed to make the soundtrack for the movie which became a hit. After the success recorded in the movie, Shola decided to try out the music in the studio. This eventually gave birth to her debut studio album.
After releasing the ‘Eji Owuro’ album, it quickly became a huge success commercially and critically, launching Allyson into the music industry. Since then, Shola Allyson has grown into one of the biggest stars in the gospel music industry. Over time, she has worked with A-list stars like Adekunle Gold, Tope Alabi and Cobhams Asuquo.
