Driscoll to Owens: “Take a Break” Over Bizarre Charlie Kirk Death Claims

In a fiery online rebuke, Pastor Mark Driscoll has launched a direct attack on conservative influencer Candace Owens for her escalating conspiracy theories about the death of fellow commentator Charlie Kirk. Driscoll dedicated a YouTube short, pointedly titled “Candace Owens Has Officially Lost Touch With Reality,” to condemn her rhetoric, stating he “feels sorry” for her and insisting she needs “an evaluation.” He expressed particular concern over what he described as an unhealthy obsession, noting, “Honestly, she needs to take a break. She’s become obsessed with Charlie Kirk in a way that is really unhealthy for a married woman.” Owens has repeatedly pushed baseless claims, suggesting Kirk was “betrayed,” implicating Israel in his assassination, and alleging that key text message evidence from the accused killer has been fabricated.

Driscoll further argued that Owens has inappropriately positioned herself as the “de facto defender and spokesperson for the legacy of Charlie Kirk,” a role he insisted should be at the “sole discretion of his wife, Erika,” whom he praised as a “really remarkable, incredible grieving widow.” He concluded by framing the controversy as a symptom of modern digital culture, stating, “This is the problem with the internet. The crazier you are, the more attention you get, but the less helpful you are.” Meanwhile, the legal case against the alleged perpetrator, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who faces charges of aggravated murder and a potential death penalty, continues to move forward. His first in-person public hearings are scheduled for January 16th and 30th, 2026.
