Christy Nockels Unveils Soothing Ballads in ‘King Who Never Sleeps; Anthems for Rest’
Christy Nockels, a revered voice in Christian music, has released her latest album, “King Who Never Sleeps; Anthems for Rest,” a peace-inducing project filled with tender songs for families. This 14-track collection is a sister project to her highly acclaimed 2017 album, “Be Held: Lullabies for the Beloved”. Nockels shares that these songs are designed for personal worship, suitable for both children and adults, aiming to capture the heart of worship in everyday life.
The album features intimate instrumentation, simple yet powerful language, and Nockels’ angelic vocals, making it perfect for quiet moments of reflection. Produced by her husband Nathan Nockels, who co-wrote many of the originals, the project includes Scripture-based songs that make biblical truths accessible to children. Notably, Nockels’ two daughters contribute background vocals to “Shepherd of My Soul,” while her oldest daughter designed the album’s artwork. Other notable collaborations include first-time songwriter Magen Roberson and GRAMMY Award-winning lyricist Mitch Wong.
As a fresh empty nester, Nockels reflects on the passing of time, valuing presence in her songs, particularly in “Be Where Your Feet Are,” which resonates with audiences.
