Meet 2003UB313, a quartet of friends unleashing a maelstrom of screamy punk rock, math-infused rhythms, and unbridled energy, all while seeking a higher purpose – to be vessels for Jesus’ Spirit to transform lives and communities. With a name inspired by the dwarf planet Eris’ catalog number, 2003UB313 embodies the chaotic beauty of the cosmos, sonically evoking comparisons to At The Drive-In and mewithoutYou, yet defying easy influence categorization. As they blend punk’s intensity with a desire for spiritual impact, 2003UB313 is on a mission to shatter the boundaries between music, faith, and community, leaving a trail of transformed lives in their wake.
“If I were to get all artistic for a moment, I’d say that we’ve been far more influenced by bits and pieces of certain songs, or even shows, and then they all come through in our creative process, rather than being influenced by entire bands or albums. That being said, I’ve been strongly influenced by early Norma Jean (and ‘Landslide Defeater’ – that song wails), The Chariot, the first few Thrice albums, Selfmindead’s ‘At the Barricades We Fall,’ and Take It Back’s ‘Atrocities’ album, even though we’re not really the same style. That list totally dates me!” shares Andrew.
